ROUTINE TEETH CLEANING

Regular teeth cleaning improves your health, self-confidence, and appearance so you can smile with comfort and pride. We recognize dental care is occasionally uncomfortable or stressful, but we will do everything possible to make your routine cleaning as convenient, comfortable, relaxing, painless, and gentle as possible. You enjoying a bright smile with fresh breath is the desired result.

The American Dental Association recommends a minimum of two visits per year to your dentist which provides an opportunity for preventative care and education, early detection and treatment, and assessment of your home care routine. Your routine dental appointments are a healthy habit that pays dividends in peace of mind!

YOUR DENTAL HYGIENIST

Your first visit usually starts with your dental hygienist. Your hygienist is the main educator in our office. Our goal at every visit is to improve your oral health and increase your awareness of your oral health status. At each teeth cleaning we will do an oral cancer examination, recommend necessary digital X-rays, and may recommend fluoride, sealants, night guards, or athletic mouth guards.

Your hygienist will be the first to educate you further about gum infection, bad breath, bone loss, sensitive teeth and receding gums.  Also for anyone experiencing pregnancy, your hygienist will discuss certain tips for if your gums bleed or become sore.

PREVENTING GUM DISEASE

Some people have risk factors that may lead to gum disease. Your hygienist will recommend gum disease treatments based on findings during your visit. The dental terminology for gum disease treatment is scaling and root planing or periodontal therapy. Often gum disease is silent so you don’t know you have it but other times there are gum disease symptoms such as bad breath, receding gums and bleeding gums. Also, many gum disease patients will have visible tartar buildup along the gum line and buildup under the gum on x-rays. There are multiple techniques to clean your teeth and your hygienist will personalize your dental care to your preferences. After treating gum disease you can expect to have improved self-esteem, more confidence, freedom from pain and worry about future dental problems, and even greater vitality.
